Cell to cell communication: slows with ageing As we age, the communication process between skin cells is reduced. BBC Horizon discussed research work being conducted By the Max Planck Institute in Berlin into cellular communication and specifically how vital Glycans are. This forms part of the subject of "Glycobiology", identified by the programme as key to the future of anti-ageing. You will be hearing this phrase a lot more over the coming months! The programme discussed groundbreaking research showing how vital the communication between the Epidermis and Dermis is in relation to collagen synthesis. The theory, as supported by Lab tests shown by BBC, is that restoring communication between the Epidermis and Dermis can result in a real anti-ageing effect through renewed collagen synthesis.
