Oat COM Colloidal Oatmeal: Independent study shows high moisturisation and impressive formulation benefits

Oat COM (Colloidal Oatmeal) was independently tested by AGR International to measure consumer perception of its moisturising efficacy and also map perceivable sensory attributes versus a placebo cream.

"AGR performs tests for many of our customers, so the data is of great value. As well as expected moisturising efficacy, the highly perceived de-greasing effects were very impressive."
Kevin Cousins, Sales Director

Efficacy Testing with Oat COM
Oat COM is known for its impressive moisturisation and formulation de-greasing effects. Oat Cosmetics wanted to really stretch it in two ways:

1) Conduct an independent moisturisation study on consumers.
2) Challenge Oat COM in a high quality formula vs placebo to understand its sensory benefits.

Using Ayton Global Research International (AGR), Oat Cosmetics was able to ensure the testing was performed impartially
and to a level of immediate use to customers for their own purposes.

Perceivable Sensory Benefits of Oat COM
The following emulsion was used for both the Moisturisation Study and the Sensory Benefits evaluation. It was formulated to possess the aesthetics expected for a mass-market moisturiser. However the levels of the Paraffinic oils were increased to
a level that resulted in added greasiness in order to road-test the de-greasing attributes of Oat COM.

The test cream contained 3% Oat COM. The placebo contained no Oat COM.

* The de-greasing effect of Oat COM was highly perceived.
* The Oat COM cream was perceived to absorb much faster than the placebo.
* Even 5 minutes after application, the de-greasing effect of Oat COM was still noticed.
* Subjects did not report any drying effects from the Oat COM cream vs placebo despite de-greasing.

Moisturisation effects
Oat COM GraphThe study was performed on 46 participants aged 40-65. Subjects
were asked to score the Oat COM cream for a variety of attributes.

* Subjects felt moisturised after 6, 12 and 24 hours.
* Absorption of the cream scored very well.
* The skin appeared matte.
* The cream was considered non-greasy.

The test itself is continuing for a full 90 day term. So far the results
are very exciting! The above results were taken after just 24 hours
of the study. You can read a full study report here:
