Lactobionic Acid is a polyhydroxy acid (PHA). It is also called a sugar acid and is formed from gluconic acid and galactose, a monosaccharide. Unlike previous generation AHA’s, PHA’s are non-irritating. Lactobionic Acid helps prevent and reverse the appearance of photoaging, including lines and wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, enlarged pores and roughness. Lactobionic Acid protects the skin against photoaging by inhibiting the MMP enzymes that degrade the skin’s structure and strength.
